Pencarrow’s investment style is to partner with management and owners to help create the conditions for each of our portfolio companies to be successful and grow value. We do not require control, but rather treat our investments as a “partnership” with management and owners.
Our role is to provide capital and complement management, as required, in areas where we have particular skills and expertise such as accessing networks, facilitating and assisting with mergers, acquisitions and expansions, assisting management in strategy and raising debt finance. Having pioneered the private equity market locally, Pencarrow has developed strong networks built up over many years’ presence in the New Zealand market, which we can access to assist our portfolio companies.
We are particularly active in developing, monitoring and supporting the overall strategy (also drawing on a network of external industry experts) and planning and implementing significant business change. We actively facilitate contacts, collaboration and business experience sharing between portfolio companies. We can also use our extensive networks to assist portfolio companies to augment their management teams as required.
